Last week I published the article, Can You See God’s Image Reflecting On Substack? This article is a continuation from that same theme. What’s different is I’m utilizing a new source from an article written by Karin Eldor of Forbes.com. The title is How Founders Are Using Substack To Build Real Connection.
To give you a recap from last week’s article:
I reported on a conversation between Ana Calin and Justin Welsh about growth on Substack. The conversation itself was very good to listen to in context. I recommend that you do.
However, because I’m a Christian and write about Christianity, I couldn’t help but notice some Christian themes, perhaps unknowingly and unintentionally being expressed between the conversationalists. These themes are common amongst both Christians and non-Christians. They are embedded in the human soul. And, they are revealed in biblical text.
Those themes were as follows:
Human Connection
Deep and Meaningful Relationships
Creative Expression
Community of Likeminded Persons
Authenticity and Engagement
Differentiation from what’s Artificial
My aim was to highlight these threads and show the relationships they have between humans and our Creator, from the biblical literature.
The goal for this article is the same. The featured source comes from an editorial written by Karin Eldor of Forbes.com. The title, How Founders Are Using Substack To Build Real Connection.
Below are excerpts extracted from the original article. Correlating, biblical text will follow each extract. Click on the link above to read Karin Eldor’s entire composition.
“Substack has found success because it offers what people have been craving: community,”
Acts 2:44 KJVAnd all that believed were together, and had all things common;
In a world where organic reach is shrinking and attention spans are short, Substack gives founders something rare: a direct line to an audience that chooses to hear from them.
John 1:7-12 KJVThe same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. [8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. [9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. [11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
No middlemen. Just unfiltered insight, behind- the-scenes stories, and real connection with superfans.
Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV[14] Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. [15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
…Substack is where you go deep….
Matthew 22:37 KJVJesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
It’s about the long game….
John 3:16 KJVFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
It’s about three Cs: Connection. Consistency. Community.
John 15:7 NKJVIf you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
It’s also about meeting true fans where they’re at.
Acts 2:21 KJVAnd it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Substack thrives as a platform for inspiration and connection.
Job 32:8 KJVBut there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
“Make it a space for original content….”
Psalm 51:6 KJVBehold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
“…And oftentimes, the community connects with one another in really lovely ways.”
John 13:34 KJVA new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Perhaps some of these correlations do not resonate with you because they’re unfamiliar and not apparent. That’s okay. Reach out if you have any questions. Give it some time to marinate, if you are interested.
In conclusion, the goal here is to show consistency between the Bible, God’s inspired Word; and, humanity, in life as we know it. All of the examples may not be 100%, exact matches, word for word or thought for thought. Where the parallels do exist, you get the picture.
